Shark APEX UpLight DuoClean Review: Is It Still a Good Purchase in 2024?
Shark has become a household name throughout the country. The company’s vacuum cleaners are always at the top of the national selling chart thanks to their durability, high performance, and relative affordability.
One of the best selling vacuum cleaners in Shark’s portfolio is the Shark APEX UpLight. It’s a pretty old model that has long since been discontinued, but you can still find new and slightly used units out there on the market at a steep discount.
But is it worth buying? Short answer: it depends.
Today’s feature from TheKingLive is all about Shark Apex uplight duoclean… we’ll answer all of the questions you have about it!
How Does It Perform?
The performance of the Shark APEX UpLight still holds up very well in 2024. We took the test unit we bought in 2020 and gave it a test run on our hardwood floors. The vacuum was able to pick up nearly all traces of dirt. We even pitched it against larger, more difficult to clean debris and pet hair in later tests, but the APEX UpLight dealt with everything efficiently.
On carpeting, the vacuum’s performance was reduced slightly—but this is to be expected. On low-pile carpeting, the vacuum still performs very well and was able to clean up the large majority of debris and dust we strewn on the piling. But the vacuum’s cleaning performance suffered on high-pile carpeting. It was only able to clean up half to ¾ of the dust and debris.
But for a discontinued stick vacuum, this is very good performance!
Design
The design of the Shark APEX UpLight is still considered as relatively compact and light. There are stick vacuums with slimmer and lighter weight than the APEX UpLight, but in day-to-day performance, you won’t have a problem with the APEX UpLight’s bulk and size.
In its full form, the vacuum weighs around 12 pounds. But with the front section removed and the vacuum converted into a handheld unit, it weighs only 4 pounds.
At 45 inches tall and around 11 inches wide, the vacuum is certifiably compact. It won’t be difficult to find a good storing spot for the vacuum when it’s not in use. You’ll also be able to fit it into some tight spaces like the underside of furniture without a problem.

User Maintainability
The vacuum notably has a lot of parts that require regular cleaning. The dust cup, the air filters, the brushes … we rated it as having a very high regular maintenance demand. If you don’t clean and maintain it regularly, the vacuum’s performance will slow down. Up to a certain point, it will break.
Fortunately, you only need to keep a consistent and frequent cleaning schedule and the parts should last throughout the vacuum service life. No need to find replacement parts!
Conclusion
Overall, the Shark APEX UpLight is still a very good value buy in 2024. Search online for great deals and it should help you faithfully for years to come.
